How to Become an Affiliate Marketer
and NEVER Have to Work for the Boss Again…
Let’s suppose you just paid me $500 in consulting fees to answer a key question: how to become an affiliate marketer?
This article is my answer on the subject, so listen closely.
Statistics (and my personal experience) in the industry taught me that all odds are against new marketers, end of.
It’s not easy to become an affiliate marketer, at least not the type of affiliate who’s making sales day in day out… the type of affiliate who has built trust and authority in the marketplace. There’s no wonder super affiliates can pull-in 100’s of sales a day, even at the push of a button.
The fact is that 98% of affiliate beginners will never become power affiliates, pro players in the marketing game. It takes time, effort, trial & error, and more importantly, real guts to learn from the pros and do what they do.
There’s no shortcut. If you want to have what the big affiliates have, you need to do what they do. Think like they think. And approach affiliate marketing alike. Anything else is left for the mediocre affiliate.
Put it this way. Regular affiliates imitate. Pros innovate.
Regular affiliates think small. Pros think BIG.
Which one would you like to become?
Benefits & Advantages
Power affiliates are not born, they are made. That means trust alone cannot come as a result of you becoming a pro affiliate. You have to build trust before you turn into a super affiliate. Besides, you have to learn how to distinguish yourself in the marketplace, and figure out what really sets you apart.
Take a pen and paper and please answer these questions below:
- What’s your unique story?
- What’s your background?
- How do you see yourself in the marketplace?
- What are you going to teach others in order to build trust and authority?
- Who are your potential customers in the first place? Why?
Online, people buy from other people that they like, know and trust.
Trust is not important, it is essential. The little guy cannot reach the income of a super affiliate for the simple reason that he or she does not know how to build trust. And if by chance, he or she learns it, they could lose it in a heartbeat! It’s hard to build trust, easy to lose it.
I once read (see quote below) that it can take a lifetime to build trust and your reputation, yet you can DESTROY it in a minute…
One single message to your mailing list promoting a BS hype offer could ruin your entire reputation. If anybody on your list feels offended by your lack of integrity, they might share the experience with 100’s of Facebook fans or Twitter followers. Before you know it, you have to start all over again.
“It takes a lifetime to build a good reputation, but you can lose it in a minute.”
— Will Rogers, American actor and comedian
How to become an affiliate marketer
If you’re at the beginning of your affiliate venture, then you need to hear two simple truths:
- Tools are important
You need at least four. In the beginning: a domain name and reliable web hosting, a web site, and a mailing list. Anything else is a bonus.
I don’t know of any successful affiliate marketer making (BIG) money online without a domain name and a mailing list. These are must-have resources that anyone wanting to start a business online should consider, or simply put – the road ahead will be long and very difficult to make it through.
Remember, all odds are against newcomers in the game. Otherwise, most of us would be rich and famous, right?
- Learning from others is also important. Model the best in their field. Do what they do, but have a unique selling point and DO IT BETTER. Test your marketing and affiliate promotions. Tweak your campaigns. Re-test your approach. Gather insights from personal experience…
I hope the time you spent reading this article on how to become an affiliate marketer was well worth your time. Our time is precious and very important if you want to make it in affiliate marketing.
